Christopher Laore, brother of the former MP, Late Steve Laore, won comfortably polling 1353 votes over his nearest rival, who is also a former MP, Augustine Taneko who managed 731.

Christopher Laore is a physiotherapist by profession, and was the Director of the Rehabilitation Services at the National Referral Hospital, a position he held until he resigned to contest the bye-elections.

Reports from Gizo said the counting went smoothly, and the elections were said to be well conducted.
