Provincial Assembly Member for Sandfly Buena Vista ward Patterson Mae told SIBC News that the motion was moved by MPA for Lavukal Augustine Rose.
Mr Rose says the Central Islands province "had lost out when Solomon Taiyo and NFD were moved out of Tulagi to the Western Province."
"The province needs to revive the fish cannery business to benefit the people of Central Islands Province," Mr Rose said.
Meanwhile, the Central Islands Provincial Assembly has elected a new Deputy Speaker.
He is the Provincial Member for Lavukal in the Russell Islands, Augustine Rose.
Mr Rose replaces Provincial Assembly Member for Central Ngella who has taken up a ministerial portfolio, as the Provincial Minister for Agriculture and Lands.
Provincial Assembly Member for Sandfly and Buena Vista Patterson Mae says Mr Rose was elected unopposed.
Central Province Wants to Re-establish Fishing Cannery
The Central Islands Provincial Assembly has passed a resolution for the provincial executive to find an investor to establish a fish cannery in the province by 2011.
