Australian Medical Assistance Team Arrives in Honiara
Today, an AUSMAT rapid assessment team touched down in Honiara to bolster Solomon Islands capacity to respond to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

Australia has deployed AUSMAT to Honiara in response to a request from the Solomon Islands Government.

AUSMAT stands for an Australian Medical Assistance Team. They are a multidisciplinary healthcare team deployed by the Australian Government in response to international disasters.
The AUSMAT team of eight includes specialists in emergency medicine, infectious disease control, logistics and occupational therapy.
AUSMAT’s primary role will be to provide the Ministry of Health and Medical Services with clinical advisory support for the COVID-19 emergency response focusing on infection prevention and control, referral care pathways, and the distribution of critical health supplies.
