Australian Aircrafts Airlift Essential Items to West and Malaita Provinces
This week, in close partnership with the Solomon Islands Government, Australia’s C-27J Spartan aircrafts completed their first deployments to Auki, Munda and Gizo.

Strict COVID-19 safety measures were followed for all deployments including contactless deliveries to minimise contact between the aircraft crew and the public.

The aircrafts transported food, humanitarian aid and crucial medical supplies including personal protective equipment, oxygen concentrators, rapid antigen tests and consumables.
As the COVID-19 situation evolves in Malaita and Western Province, these supplies will help health workers respond effectively and keep them safe as they provide vital care to patients.
Strict COVID-19 safety measures were followed for all deployments including contactless deliveries to minimise contact between the aircraft crew and the public.
All Australian personnel deployed are fully vaccinated, are subject to strict COVID-19 testing regimes and returned negative COVID-19 tests prior to their departure to provinces.
Australia is committed to standing by our Solomon Islands wantok as they respond to and recover from COVID-19.
