According to Giff Johnson on Pacific Magazine, the 'more than six-month drought with no domestic air service in the Marshall Islands' ended last week Thursday with 'AMI re-launching its 34-seat Dash-8 that had been grounded since October 10' made possible with the $1.6 million in special grants from the Republic of China/Taiwan.
Apparently, according to the article, the 'cut off in domestic services caused tens of thousands of dollars in losses to the Bikini Atoll scuba diving business and the deaths of at least two children for lack of emergency medical evacuation services to remote islands'.
The airline is owned by the Government of the Marshall Islands.
Air Marshall Islands Airborne Again
After six months without domestic air service, the Marshall Islands last week saw the first commercially scheduled flights by Air Marshall Islands.
