AFP and ADF Personnels Fully Vaccinated
The Australian High Commission office in Honiara assures the public that all personnels from the Australia Defence Force (ADF) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) are fully vaccinated.

Requests were made to both Papua New Guinea and Australia and both responded with troops on the ground in Honiara.

This means they have taken two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. They must also have negative results from a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test prior to their departure from Australia to the Solomon Islands.
On Wednesday 24th November 2021 there were protests against the government of Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, which deteriorated into rioting.
These riots persisted, despite a snap 36-hour lockdown, ordered by the government to keep people off the streets.
This prompted Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare to look for assistance from friends and neighbours. Requests were made to both Papua New Guinea and Australia and both responded with troops on the ground in Honiara.
