The Marianas Variety reported early this week that it had received its first laboratory confirmed case of Influenza A(H1N1), a two-year old girl visiting family in Palau from Seattle, Washington.
According to the report, the girl has since left Palau and has long recovered.
There are also 6 probable cases awaiting confirmation from lab tests.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) data, Cook Islands has also recorded its first case.
Other countries in the region with the virus are Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tahiti and Vanuatu.
There are reports of a confirmed case in Guam but this has not yet been confirmed by WHO. There has been no death in the region yet from the swine flu with most infected making a recovery.
According to WHO data, 94,512 people worldwide have been infected with the virus with 429 deaths so far.
