This has surpassed and somewhat shocked the police, the sheer scale of the operation caught the police by surprise. The Police Media Unit says this is the largest Kwaso seizure made by the Liquor Licensing Squad since its formation in 2003.
Acting on reports received last week, the Liquor Licensing Squad searched a house at Uo Creek near the Panatina area and seized 600 litres of Kwaso. During the raid, police also seized the equipment used to make the fermented Kwaso and have arrested a local man for manufacturing the illegal alcohol.
In 2005 the police also raided a home in the outskirts of Honiara and confiscated up to 400 litres of Kwaso.
