A spokesman for the Ministry of education stated that the money will go towards its National Education Action Plan 2007. "It is a three year plan that seeks to provide access to young children" the spokesman said. "We want our kids to have quality education from the time they enter school"
The spokesman went on to say that donors are very supportive of the National Education Action Plan since it is in line with the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). "Education for all is clearly stated in the MDG, its an ambitious goal but its not impossible"
Under the deal New Zealand will provide SBD$120 million and the EU SBD$90 million. The assistance will be spread out over a three year period.
$210 million grant for education sector.
The Solomon Islands Government has signed an agreement with New Zealand and the European Union worth $210 million.
