The Constitution was amended from the Draft Federal Constitution of Solomon Islands 2004, announced late June 2009 as having been passed by the Joint Constitutional Congress/Eminent Persons Advisory Council Plenary.

The Constitutional Congress (CC) and Eminent Persons Advisory Council (EPAC) of the Constitutional Reform Program completed a two-month review of the Draft Federal Constitution of Solomon Islands 2004 in a Joint Plenary on 26 June 2009 at the Red Mansion Inn Conference room.
The Constitutional Reform Unit (CRU) is the body responsible for the management and coordination of Constitutional Reform Project. CRU is an established division within the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet which acts as the Secretariat for the Constitutional Congress and the Eminent Persons Advisory Council.
The CRU will be responsible for the preparation of quarterly progress reports outlining main project updates, financial and budget information. The report will be provided to the CC, Finance, DNPAC, and others where deemed appropriate.

The 1st 2009 Draft Federal Constitution is now available for public viewing.
